CH / STUDIOReading Journal: TabMap field guide

A paper-first reading field guide

Capture a Counterargument Before the Rebuttal

Use three linked fields: opposing claim, best support, and rebuttal page. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.

Preserve the strongest opposing case before reading how the author answers it. A compact three-anchor trail keeps the note useful when you return later or discuss it with someone using another edition.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Opposing claim

State the opposing claim fairly.

Step 3

Best support

Choose its strongest support in the text.

Step 4

Rebuttal page

Add the rebuttal only after the author actually gives it.
