The PDF Opens. Is Page 4 Still Missing?
A PDF can open normally and still skip page 4. For a seven-page client packet, compare the visible printed sequence with the source, review any flagged gap, then reopen the exported PDF once before sending. PageMuster flags possible issues for your eyes; it does not prove completeness.
The sender sees a file that opens and assumes the job is finished. The recipient notices the gap. The avoidable failure is not scanning; it is skipping the final sequence check.
Before capture
Count what the recipient should receive
For a seven-page client packet, write down seven before scanning. Use the source document, printed numbers, form labels, attachments, or a short checklist to establish what should exist. A scan cannot reveal a page that nobody expected.
- Expected page count is written down.
- Front and back pages are identified.
- Attachments and signature pages are included in the order.
- The recipient's file-format requirement is known.
Review
Follow the printed sequence, not only the thumbnails
If the visible sequence reads 1, 2, 3, 5, stop before export and compare page 4 with the source packet. Open each candidate at a readable size. A duplicate can have a different crop, and a pale signature page can look blank in a thumbnail.
- Page numbers or section labels progress without a gap.
- No neighboring pages repeat the same content.
- Faint marks, signatures, and handwritten entries remain visible.
- Text and identification details are not blurred or cut off.
Export
Reopen the exact PDF you will send
If the source confirms a gap, rescan only the affected page when possible, insert it in the correct place, and repeat the sequence check. If the source proves the numbering is intentionally different, keep the sender's decision.
Open the exported PDF once outside the scanning view. Confirm the expected count, order, orientation, and readability in the exact file that will go to the recipient.
