Preserve a Confusing Passage for Later

Record the page, name the exact point of confusion, and choose a return trigger such as end of chapter or after a definition appears. Continue reading without inventing an answer.

Confusion can be evidence that context is still missing. A return trigger protects reading flow and the unresolved question.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Page

Anchor the smallest passage that contains the problem.

Step 3

Exact confusion

Finish the sentence ‘I cannot yet tell whether…’ rather than writing ‘confusing.’

Step 4

Return trigger

Choose a specific moment when you will revisit it and leave the answer open.
