A paper-first reading field guide
Record a Character Promise and Its Breach
Use three linked fields: promise page, pressure, and kept or breached. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.
Follow a promise from the page where it is made to the pressure that tests it and the action that resolves it. A compact three-anchor trail keeps the note useful when you return later or discuss it with someone using another edition.
Step 1
Anchor the location
Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.
Step 2
Promise page
Paraphrase the promise without adding motive.
Step 3
Pressure
Anchor the event that makes keeping it difficult.
Step 4
Kept or breached
Record the later action and its immediate consequence.
