A paper-first reading field guide
Resume a Book After Switching Devices
Use three linked fields: old device, shared landmark, and new position. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.
Move from one reading device to another using chapter and content landmarks that do not depend on synced progress. A compact three-anchor trail keeps the note useful when you return later or discuss it with someone using another edition.
Step 1
Anchor the location
Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.
Step 2
Old device
Record the old device’s chapter and approximate location.
Step 3
Shared landmark
Paraphrase a nearby heading, scene, or argument marker.
Step 4
New position
Find that landmark on the new device and save its local position.
