CH / STUDIOReading Journal: TabMap field guide

A paper-first reading field guide

Track When a Memoir Changes Time Horizon

Use three linked fields: event time, reflection time, and view now. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.

Keep the remembered event, the later reflection, and the narrator's present-day view on separate anchors. A compact three-anchor trail keeps the note useful when you return later or discuss it with someone using another edition.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Event time

Record when the remembered event occurs.

Step 3

Reflection time

Mark the page where later knowledge enters.

Step 4

View now

State how the present narrator now frames the event.
