CH / STUDIOReading Journal: TabMap field guide

A paper-first reading field guide

Use an Index to Plan a Targeted Reread

Use three linked fields: index term, page roles, and reread order. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.

Turn an index entry into a short reread route by distinguishing definitions, examples, and decisive arguments. A compact three-anchor trail keeps the note useful when you return later or discuss it with someone using another edition.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Index term

Collect the listed pages for one narrow term.

Step 3

Page roles

Label each page as definition, example, challenge, or conclusion.

Step 4

Reread order

Order only the pages needed to rebuild the argument.
