Leave a Return Note Before Pausing a Book

Before closing, record the last stable page, what is happening now, and the next action you expect to take when you return.

A pause becomes abandonment when the restart cost grows. One brief return note preserves momentum without forcing another chapter.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Last stable page

Use the page before confusion or fatigue began.

Step 3

Current state

Describe the active question or situation in one line.

Step 4

Next action

Name whether to continue, reread, or review one earlier cue.
