Separate Emotional Reaction From Evaluation

Record the immediate reaction at the page, wait until the chapter ends, then evaluate the craft choice separately. Both lines can remain true even when they disagree.

A strong feeling is real reading evidence, but it is not automatically a final evaluation of the work.

Step 1

Anchor the location

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Step 2

Immediate reaction

Name the feeling before explaining or defending it.

Step 3

Craft choice

After the chapter, identify the narrative or argumentative choice that produced it.

Step 4

Later evaluation

Judge the choice on a separate line and keep the first reaction unchanged.
