Track a Repeated Image Across a Novel

Give the image a short name, log only page plus role, and compare the first, middle, and latest occurrence. A repeated detail earns a note when its role changes, not merely when it appears again.

Motifs disappear inside long notes when every appearance receives equal weight. A compact sequence makes change visible.

Step 1

Name the image plainly

Use the concrete object the page gives you: window, red thread, train whistle. Avoid deciding what it symbolizes on the first appearance.

Read the first, middle, and latest role side by side. Ask what changed in context before deciding what the pattern means.
