Track a Rule and Its Exceptions
Record the first usable rule, then log only exceptions that narrow its scope. Finish with the strongest version that survives every page you marked.
Rules often arrive before their limits. Keeping rule and exception together prevents an early sentence from becoming an oversimplified takeaway.

Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Add the first explicit exception or counterexample, not every variation.

Rewrite the scope so both the rule and exception can be true.
