Track Tense Changes in a Story
Use three linked fields: tense before, shift point, and time relation. Keep each field brief and attach the page or chapter landmark that supports it.

Anchor the location
Record the page or chapter before interpreting the moment. Add the current reading boundary when later knowledge could change the note.

Tense before
Record the tense and time frame at the start of the passage.
Step 3
Shift point
Anchor the sentence where the grammar changes.
Step 4
Time relation
Name how the new time frame relates to the earlier one.
